INTERNATIONAL TELECOM PLC ANNOUNCEMENT
International Telecom Plc “IT” announced that it is to be one of the first Telecoms Operators to launch a discounted fixed line rental for business and residential customers. This follows deregulation of the line rental market announced by OFTEL last year.
IT’s service will provide customers with substantial savings on not only rentals but also on call rates. Line rentals will be 50% lower than BT’s, and Call Rates will be up to 71% cheaper than BT’s. IT is also offering its ITsaver access service which provides even lower call rates at up to 91% off BT’s Standard Call Charges. IT offers a “FREE” Line Rental to a user spending over £250 per month on each line.
IT’s strategy is to use its comparatively low overhead base to provide a reliable service to compete with the larger telecom providers. IT is able to set up carriage at favourable rates and pass these savings to its customers.
Michael Wade (CFO) of International Telecom Plc says that the competitively priced package has received an exciting response since its launch earlier this month, attracting over ten thousand enquiries. IT aims to be the most competitively priced telecoms operator for business and residential customers, and will expand its current line rental and call offering to later include internet and mobile packages.
IT was part of the OEM Nokia IP network until 1999, after which it launched its low cost call package. IT was one of the first Carriers in the UK when the de-regulation came into affect and has a Full PTO License with OFTEL since 1995.
The technical quality of IT’s telephone lines is at least as good as that provided by BT. Line maintenance is provided by BT. Apart from price, IT’s strength will be its ability to provide a first-class customer service, where a customer can obtain an immediate response to a query or service request. Telecom companies in the past have performed extremely poorly on customer services, where customers often have to wait an eternity waiting to be connected to the correct department.
