Under 25’s fuel Malaysian Mobile Market with just under 1 Million New Subscribers in 2005

Added: (Tue Feb 28 2006)

Data from Wireless World Forum’s “Malaysian Mobile Market 2006” statistical handbook reveals Malaysian growth will be strongest in the teenage 10-25 age range with just under a million new subscribers in 2005 and in the 50-64 senior age group which grew by over half a million new subscribers in 2005.

Blended ARPU is in decline across the Malaysian operators as they compete for the largest market share of subscribers. Voice ARPU will fall from $14.3 pcm in 2005 to $12.5 pcm in 2007, while rising data usage primarily fuelled by increased messaging revenues will help stem the reduction of blended ARPU from $17.4 pcm in 2005 to $16.0 pcm, a year on year fall of 4.3%.
