The HTC Legend lives up to its name

Pressbox (Press Release) - The HTC Legend is an impressive piece of mobile phone technology, offering as it does the Eclair version of the android operating system as well as an impressively fast 600 MHz processor. It is due for release soon and is widely anticipated to be a popular handset. The unit measures 112 mm x 56 mm wide and is 11 mm thick.





The HTC Legend comes with a 3.2 inch AMOLED touch screen, which within the confines of a 320 x 480 pixel screen size is able to display up to 16 million colours accurately. The screen provides an enigmatic and vibrant colourful image display medium, which with the sense user interface, offering multi-touch support, is both useful for navigation as well as displaying imagery. An optical trackball is also included for additional means of navigation in conjunction with an accelerometer sensor which auto rotates imagery dependent on the orientation of the handset.





The unit comes with 384 MB of RAM, which when combined with the ability to utilise the microSD card slot, offers the means to increase the memory capacity up to 16 GB. This level of memory capacity is sufficient for most needs. The unit utilises the Eclair version of the android system, which is touted as version 2.1 and also includes a Qualcomm MSM 7227 600 MHz processor. The unit comes with satellite navigation, ably provided by its GPS function, the also comes with A-GPS support.





Multiple means of connectivity are provided with this unit, with internet access provided by both HSDPA and Wi Fi. Speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps are achievable as well as the ability to utilise nationally available hotspots. Class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE are combined with miniUSB and version 2.1 blue tooth.





The unit provides a 5.0 megapixel camera that operates at 2592 x 1944 pixels and, to aid photo taking, provides auto focus as well as an LED flash. The popular feature known as a geo-tagging is also supplied as standard. In addition the camera also doubles up as a video capture device, providing a suitable alternative to static imagery.





The handset comes with a variety of entertainment options which include an MP4/MP3 player, stereo FM radio with RDS capabilities and a variety of games. In addition, Google search, maps and Gmail are all available as well as YouTube and Google talk. The inclusion of an organiser and photo editor are useful elements as well as the voice memo facility.





The HTC Desire will be available in both grey and black and is sure to be a popular handset, much like its counterpart the HTC desire. Not only is it stylish but it is also eminently functional and provides a wide array of useful features that make it a must have phone.
