Telmap Oy enables Telmap to play a larger role in the Nordic market
Herzelia, Israel 19 September 2005 – Telmap (www.telmap.com), a world-leading provider of mobile Mapping and Navigation solutions, today announced the opening of its new subsidiary in Finland, Telmap Oy.
The new company is located in Espoo, the heart of Finland’s technology development activity. Telmap Oy is focusing on sales, marketing and support for Finland and Scandinavia, adding considerable resources to Telmap’s European activities.

Telmap has appointed Hannu Järvi to head Telmap Oy, and is recruiting local technical and sales staff. Mr. Järvi is a highly experienced telecommunications product and business manager and brings special expertise in location-based services to his position at Telmap Oy.

The Polarisä Mapping and Navigation System, Telmap’s flagship product, will be a primary focus of Telmap Oy’s sales and marketing efforts. Polaris revolutionizes the way people interact with their cellular phones by enabling users to utilize their cellular phone as an all-in-one, multi-purpose device for all their mapping, navigation, and travel-related content needs, such as Points of Interest (POIs), weather updates and real-time traffic. Featuring a worldwide database of millions of POIs, including restaurants, hotels and theaters, Polaris enables users to direct dial to any POI from within the application and share locations, and points of interest via SMS. All geographical data is delivered in real time via the wireless network to provide worldwide mapping, routing and content coverage.
