Added: (Tue Oct 13 2009)

Nokia N97 Mini Release Date:
The original N97 from Nokia is still doing well in terms of sales volumes but Nokia have obviously found a hole in the market for a high specification N-Series phone that will also appeal to the youth and fashion market - Bring on the Nokia N97 Mini.

This new handset offers a substantial number of features found in its bigger counterpart, the Nokia N97, however this mini version manages to squeeze then into a much smaller casing by making some superficial changes to its design.

The Nokia N97 Mini is a handset which caters for a wide range of the mobile phone users. With a smaller size as indicated by its name, than the N97, the unit offers excellent functionality with a smooth and stylish design. The handset is a powerful unit mainly due to its use of the ARM 11 434 MHz processor and the Symbian OS v9.4 operating system. Both of which are capable and reliable elements.

Nokia N97 Mini Deals:

A 3.2 inch TFT touch screen that operates at a pixel size of 360 x 640 is provided. The screens ability to reproduce effective colours is greatly enhanced by virtue of its ability to display 16 million colours. This means colours are represented in true life like colours. The inclusion of an accelerometer and proximity sensor ensures that images are displayed in their correct aspect and battery life is preserved when not in use. A full QWERTY keyboard is housed behind the screen and is a useful addition.

GPRS, EDGE, Blue tooth and USB connections as well as HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections are included. The connectivity options are numerous with the ability to share files and access the internet, usually the most used. The Wi-Fi element allows the use of available hot spots. Satellite navigation is provided by the GPS with A-GPS function and uses the popular Nokia maps.

The 5.0 megapixel camera offered within the unit takes excellent quality imagery. The camera operates at a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and makes use of high quality optics in the form of Carl Zeiss optics. To help the user to take effective photos, the handset provides auto focus and a dual LED flash, for illumination. The increasingly popular geo tagging offers the ability to reference photos by location. As a viable alternative the ability to record video is offered and is at VGA quality and at 30 frames per second. A variety of editing tools are included which allow the editing of photo and video, should the need arise.

The phone comes with an MP3/MP4 player and an FM stereo radio. This ensures that the user has the ability to listen to downloaded music files as well as local and national radio stations. Additional features include a digital compass, document viewer and flash lite 3 and a TV out

The Nokia N97 Mini is a compact handset with dimensions measuring 113 mm x 52 mm and 14 mm thick, it weighs 138 grams. The handset is an excellent example of technology over size, it is packed full of useful functions whilst still being relatively small and compact.

The Nokia N97 Mini will be available unlocked as a SIM Free Nokia mobile phone from November 16th with an initial retail price of £449.99. It now seems that the new Nokia N900 Linux based phone will make it to market sooner which will give the new Mini N97 some real competition.
