Pay as you go phones or PAYG phones, as they are sometimes referred, do not require the user to enter in any contract and there is no such thing as the monthly bill. The user pays for the mobile calls before hand by precrediting its account and only using what he paid for. For the same reason this type of phones are sometime referred to as prepaid phones. All you need to do is buy a phone and create a mobile phone account.

As there is no contract in pay as you go phones so the user can switch his mobile phone whenever he wished to. Reason for this can be availability of a new mobile phone, cheap calling plans, dissatisfaction with the current phone and so on. Hence, these phones provide great flexibility to the users of this category of mobile phones. This comes as an added bonus and create a competitive market among both the mobile phone manufacturers and mobile phone vendors. Pay as you go phones are for those people who want to reduce their costs as the cost of calling is relatively low. Moreover, the user is not entitled to pay any service tax or any other overhead and hence pay for the minutes he uses the phone.

All the mobile big phone companies provide pay as you go phones these include Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, HTC, so on. These companies are flooding the market with latest mobile phones everyday creating more option for the customers. Nokia pay as you go phones are the market leader in this category. Closely followed by Samsung and Blackberry. These also face tough competition with the relatively new entrant HTC pay as you go phones. With tough competition and brand marketing this area of mobile phones has a good future.
