OPTICAL 2-CHANNEL MULTIPLEXER CMX-IG2 - HIGH-SPEED MULTIPLEXING FOR GIGABIT ETHERNET AND FIBRE-CHANN
Added: (Wed Jul 25 2001)
PANDATEL AG is expanding its product line in the area of time division multiplexing (TDM): The new multiplexer card CMX-IG2 provides simultaneous transmission of Gigabit Ethernet and/or Fibre Channel protocols via one optical fiber.
Multiplexing basically involves increasing the bandwidth of existing optical lines. The technology used in this card (TDM) allows for the inexpensive and safe use of optical transmission lines at double speed.
The new 2-channel multiplexer CMX-IG2 is available both as a channel card for the DWDM system FOMUX 3000 and as a standalone device.
The use of the multiplexer CMX-IG2 in the DWDM system FOMUX 3000 allows TDM and DWDM technology to be combined. This combination is of great interest to network operators particularly because of the optimum use of the optical fiber networks. For instance, the use of two 4-channel ESCON multiplexers (e.g., FOMUX 1000) allows for up to eight ESCON channels or two Gigabit Ethernet and/or Fibre Channels to be combined on one channel. PANDATEL supplies the multiplexer card with integrated ITU wavelength for direct connections to DWDM systems (such as FOMUX 3000), thus saving costs and reducing size.
As a basic model for small applications the combined use in a special 19" housing is a very inexpensive alternative. Through combination with an optional redundant power supply the necessary fail safety is ensured.
