Pressbox (Press Release) - · Dark Fiber – an attractive option for corporate customers

Amsterdam/Brussels, 14 November 2001 – FiberCorp, the international Fiber Connectivity specialist, has signed an important contract with a corporate customer on its Amsterdam network, completed in June 2001. CMG, a consultancy organisation specializing in IT and Telecommunications has ordered a dark fiber connection between its headquarters in Hoofddorp and Amstelveen, the Netherlands.

The dark fiber is linked at both ends to CISCO routers, using Gigabit Ethernet avoiding the need to buy additional equipment. The only equipment required is a couple of plug-in cards for the routers. A ring connection will provide maximum assurance against fiber outages. “FiberCorp offered us a very competitive price for a comprehensive dark fiber solution which gives us complete control over our internal communications network,” explains Frits Venderbosch, Associate Director CMG Services, Division Central Information Services.

Armand Bogaarts, Chairman and CEO for FiberCorp comments: “We believe that it is time to explode the myth that dark fiber solutions are only an option for the carrier market. Our contract with CMG shows that dark fiber is an attractive option for corporate customers who need to connect different locations on a secure, fast and reliable network”. CMG’s leading position in the provision of business information services make it a particularly interesting customer for FiberCorp since the successful implementation of the contract is likely to have a multiplier effect, attracting more corporate customers to the dark fiber solution.
