CWDM/OADM over a single fiber optic line
Added: (Fri Mar 10 2006)
Hamburg, Germany - 10 March 2006 The flexible express CWDM/OADM concept from ghip systems provides the ideal enhancement for a current fiber optic infrastructure when demand for bandwidth increases.
Due to its purely passive technology, this product family is well-prepared for building a fail-safe and maintenance-free backbone architecture.
The new express CWDM single-fiber concept in this series is especially made for the situation that only one single fiber is available for transmitting the demanded applications. It will transmit up to 4 connections of different standards, data rates or protocols in both directions with up to 10 Gbit/s over one single-fiber optic link.
This new technology utilizes two adjacent channels of the standardized ITU-T G.694.2 CWDM grid for connecting each one data channel bi-directional over one simplex fiber optic line. In this way, a matching pair of multiplexers allows the point-to-point transmission of four data channels in both directions.
Because all single-fiber components are based on valid CWDM standards, normal CWDM transceivers can be used in the connected endpoint units.
With our complementary express CWDM single-fiber add/drop components, individual channels can be dropped and inserted. This allows building optical bus or tree structures or add-and-drop rings in a flexible way.
