ATX SELECTS AWARD-WINNING TIERNEY COMMUNICATIONS FOR CAMPAIGN

Bala Cynwyd, PA - November 27, 2001 - ATX (Nasdaq: COMM), a leading integrated communications provider with approximately 40,000 business customers and 400,000 consumer subscribers, has selected Tierney Communications to help launch a referral initiative to capitalize on its commercial customer base throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions.

In a recent customer survey, 90% of ATX clients indicated a level of satisfaction worthy of referring their telecommunications provider to other businesses. In partnering with Tierney Direct, the direct marketing arm of the agency, ATX will thank its loyal customers and ask them to take that action by sharing contacts that could benefit from a similar partnership. The program will reward participating customers by making contributions to the United Way on their behalf, extending ATX's relationship with the national charity that began in 1999 when the company received the Best New Campaign Award for southeastern Pennsylvania.
