'Real' ASPs come good at last

Added: (Tue Jun 19 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - After nearly three years of hype the ASP model has actually proved its
worth. Did the hype slow the uptake? This time last year everyone was
claiming to be an "ASP" but it only took a look down the list of any ASP
portal to find that the "real" ASPs were few and far between, most were web
hosting companies or system integrators hoping for a slice of the action.

DXSolutions, itself founded early last year at the height of the "Dot-Com
Boom", has received a massive response to its "All your IT needs for under
50 quid" campaign and are now approaching 5000 users, proving the ASP model
works.

"we were not surprised to receive such a large response" said Michael
Ferreira Managing Director of DXSolutions. "A lot of companies delivered a
lot of hype around Application Service Provision and confused the market.
Everyone who had missed out on the dot-com hype tried to jump on the (ASP)
band wagon. Now that its turned sour they have all moved away, which allows
real ASPs to show what they have to offer.

But 'ASP's still have a long way to go before what they offer is clear to
the customers they are selling it to what they have to offer. Maybe the
corner has been turned.

DXSolutions offer a 'Thin Client' with access to Microsoft Windows desktop
and Office XP with email and other applications for $74 or £49 per user per
month.
