Zooming in on the Consumer

The ‘Geobrowser’ has arrived. Developed by leading geographic application company, local5media, the Geobrowser is an entirely new platform for advertisement delivery. The geographic information technology integrates aerial photography, web cams, sound streaming and high quality mapping, and incorporates geographically targeted advertising and broadband local channel content.
“Integrated visual technologies create an ideal infrastructure for brands to target their audiences,” says Martin Warner, Marketing Director of local5media. “The architecture meets digital television broadcast requirements and is WAP-enabled to provide navigational instructions.
www.buzzlondon.com is the first city portal created using local5media technologies. It uses a mixture of live web cams, aerial images, street maps, interactive content and 360-degree views to provide a highly targeted gateway for London residents and visitors. Behind the portal, local5media uses its media tile advertising technology to match leading brands to high value locations and to track audience activity.
The technology enables geographic and time specific advertising plus location content news and services delivery. It also offers unique opportunities to reinforce branding. At last, restaurant, hotel and retail chains can use media tile sponsorship to target on-line advertising at visitors, to specific parts of London. Supermarkets and estate agents can cherry-pick desirable residential areas, whilst other products and services can associate with the locations that pull in viewers from their markets. The choice is enormous – Westminster Bridge in time for the London Marathon, Wimbledon for Finals Day, Leicester Square cinemas on opening night, the West End sales or even a royal palace!
Since its launch in December, visitors have been accessing BuzzLondon in their tens of thousands, to find practical information as well as exploring every business, address and street of every Borough in Greater London. Information is also available on events, sports, restaurants, travel, community services such as doctors and dentists, hotels, pubs, leisure and entertainment via links to hundreds of web sites on every aspect of life in the capital. This includes on-line theatre and restaurant booking throughout London.
More details are at www.local5media.com.
