Version 3.0 of Grand Central Pro to Break Communication Barriers

Professional software for file transfer with OS X

Tuesday 22nd May, 2001, London: Hermstedt the market leading ISDN specialist, has today announced the imminent launch of Grand Central Pro 3.0, the de facto standard software for data transfer on the Macintosh. With significant new features including the capability to send data using an existing IP connection, support of multi-homing and the ability to run on OS X - this looks set to be the most flexible and powerful version of the software yet.

In keeping with the ever-changing telecommunications industry, Grand Central Pro 3.0 enables secure peer-to-peer data transfer using an IP connection, regardless of the communication method and hardware used. Therefore the user is free to choose from analogue, ISDN, xDSL, leased lines connections and hardware including traditional modem, ISDN adaptor and cable modem. Support of Mac OS X and the new multi-homing function enables users to set up extremely secure IP and ISDN file transfer servers. What’s more, the Grand Central Pro file server keeps the connection for external file transfer totally separate from the internal Ethernet, removing the risk of unauthorised access to the company network.

Version 3.0 of our file transfer software for Macintosh significantly expands the range of usage areas, plus offering more security than ever,” comments Jorg Hermstedt, Chairman and founder of Hermstedt AG. “The introduction of Mac OS X with its new suite of features gave us the ideal opportunity to incorporate these into our software.”

Users of Grand Central Pro 3.0 will continue to profit from the traditional benefits associated with Hermstedt communication. For example, encrypted transfer for high data security, the Suspend and Resume function, group sending, in-box with channel management, pre-scheduled transfers, hot folders and much more.

“Grand Central Pro 3.0 is the most powerful communications software we’ve ever built,” comments Andy Eakins Managing Director of Hermstedt UK. “Whilst ISDN is the de-facto stand for sending files point to point, Grand Central Pro 3.0 will widen a users portfolio of communications without risk of attack from virus or hackers”.

Grand Central Pro 3.0 will be available in August 2001 priced at £399 + VAT. Hermstedt will be offering beta site testing to interested parties who should Tel: 0207 242 4060.
