ULIS infrared detectors have smallest pixel in world

Added: (Fri Nov 17 2006)

ULIS of France (part of the Sofradir group), a specialist in uncooled infrared detectors, has launched a 25µm range of amorphous silicon detectors: the UL 02 15 2, the UL 04 17 1 and the UL 03 19 1. ULIS is the only company to offer such a wide range of 25µm products.
The compact UL 02 15 2 can be used in thermography and industrial applications. It features a 160 x 120 pixel array format, a thermal time constant of less than 7ms, a CMOS read-out circuit, a 70% area fill factor and an 8–14µm spectral response. Its operating temperature range varies from -40°C to +60°C. Typical operability is greater than 99.9% with a high uniform response (3mV/K, /m = 1.3%). It has an easy-to-use electrical interface, which includes an analogue and digital video output. It weighs less than 5g and its overall dimensions are 16.6mm x 16.5mm x 4.2mm. It is fully dedicated to low-cost thermography equipment applications.
The UL 04 17 1 offers high definition – its 640 x 480 pixel array format with windowing capability has identical characteristics to the previous model, but with considerably higher performance. The operating temperature range with TEC and focal plane at 30°C varies from -30°C to +60°C, whereas operating temperatures range from -40°C to +85°C for other focal plane temperatures. Its signal response is 7mV/K. Typical operability and standard deviation are identical to the UL 02 15 2. The focal plane temperature is stabilised by an integrated TEC. It has one or two analogue outputs and its electrical interface is easy to use. It weighs less than 30g and its overall dimensions, excluding pins, are 32mm x 23.5mm x 7.4mm. It is designed for applications such as medical imaging, driver night vision, security and thermography.
The last in the range of products, the UL 03 19 1, offers high performance in a compact package – with a 384 x 288 pixel array format and windowing capability, its performances are identical to those of the UL 04 17 1. It has an analogue and digital output. It is intended for applications in predictive maintenance, industrial process control, medical imaging, security and driver night vision.
