UK BASED IT CONSULTANCY SCORES WORLD FIRST
UK’s leading Solution Partner, NDS8, has achieved a world first with the appointment of a second Novell DeveloperNet SysOp. Mark Robinson joins Chief Technology Officer, Tim Heywood, as one of only 35 SysOps across the world. This appointment makes NDS8 the only consultancy across the globe to have two of these advisors.
The Novell DeveloperNet SysOp program is a combination of Novell support professionals and volunteer industry professionals who work together as a team to answer questions and help resolve the problems of Novell developers. The SysOps, who all have deep product and business knowledge, offer fellow developers quick and accurate response to their queries. Of the 35 SysOps worldwide only 14 operate in independent consultancies.
“Mark’s appointment is a great recognition of his expertise and dedication,” commented Chief Technology Officer, of NDS8, adding, “His knowledge and the experience he will gain from this role will be of great benefit to our clients ensuring that they receive the most advanced information available. As a SysOp Mark will have access to information direct from Novell, but even more significantly will be able to influence the design of their new solutions.”
Mark Robinson began his career in IT at Stirling University in 1990 first as an undergraduate, then a PhD student before lecturing on Unix Systems at Napier University. In 1998 he set up his own consultancy specialising in Linux systems and becoming the first SuSE Linux Advanced Partner in Scotland. On joining NDS8 in 2004 he became more deeply involved with Novell solutions, posting answers to the support forums, participating in the Novell Brainshare conference before being invited to become a SysOp. In May this year he passed the Novell Certified Linux Professional exam and now teaches others. He is also an evaluator for new Novell Linux products.
