Telia International Carrier Implements Scala Across Europe
Added: (Tue May 22 2001)
Global experience and reasonable cost were among key deal clinchers
London, 22 May 2001: Scala Business Solutions today announced that Telia International Carrier, part of the Swedish Telia Group, has signed an order to install Scala in seven of their 22 companies throughout Europe.
Telia has purchased licences to install Scala 5.1, a suite of fully-integrated software for managing business processes, in France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Russia, Poland and Italy. The reasons for selecting Scala amongst competition were its global presence and experience as well as being available for a reasonable cost compared to other systems.
“We were looking for a standard system that could supply us with standard business processes in our newly-opened companies across Europe,” said Gunilla Örnmarker, Financial Manager for Telia International Carrier AB. “It needed to be able to handle the Euro for countries such as France, being multi-lingual as well as complying with local legal and fiscal requirements in other countries. With Scala’s standard implementation template we can speedily install Scala 5.1 in our smaller operations that don’t have a large number of IT or finance staff to look after the infrastructure.”
With complex reporting requirements it is important that Telia can access financial information speedily and easily. “By standardising on one system across our European companies we can quickly access reliable data, whenever we need it,” says Örnmarker. “We are using a Swedish Scala distributor to help us streamline the system using Microsoft Visual Basic for Application and include a company-specific modification. Plans for the future include integration with other systems, having a central server and a web-based interface.”
“This new contract represents a clear vote of confidence in our company, its people and products,” said Björn Andersson, SVP Operations Scala Business Solutions Nordic Region. “The order confirms that global companies continue to look to Scala for world-class, cost-effective software that combines back office functionality with leading-edge Internet technology. Our products can be deployed globally to give our clients the standardisation they need for making global business simple.”
