Innovator Zeus Joins Blade.org

Added: (Tue Feb 28 2006)

CAMBRIDGE, UK, 28, February, 2006 – Zeus Technology, the award-winning innovative application traffic management software developer, has joined more than 40 technology leaders in the formation of Blade.org, an open community that will develop and advance next-generation technology for blades.

The Blade.org community, initially conceived by IBM and Intel to accelerate expansion of solutions for BladeCenter, will focus on solution design guidance, compliance and interoperability testing, industry events and marketplace education.

“What started only months ago as a group of companies interested in driving innovation on the BladeCenter-based platform, has become a fully functioning organisation, supporting openness and collaborative innovation around new products and systems,” said Doug Balog, chairman, Blade.org. “The Blade.org community is already innovating and delivering new BladeCenter solutions, expanding customer confidence in this still rapidly growing market.”

Damian Reeves, CTO, Zeus Technology commented; "BladeCenter is well recognized for offering operational efficiencies in high performance data centers, but the slew of competing vendors with individual agendas is a threat to this. Blade.org offers the opportunity for multiple vendors representing the application, network and edge-computing components to develop interoperability standards that will allow BladeCenter to fully realize this potential. Zeus will bring application continuity to BladeCenter, and contribute to building an open platform integrating traffic management, optimisation and security into virtualised SOA environments.”

Zeus continue to invest in the development of Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM), unique integrated software that forms an essential part of the development of Web-enabled applications. More adaptable and easier to use than anything currently available on the market, ZXTM enables both the network and application to become more fluent and closely integrated. As organisations move into SOA environments and volumes of traffic across the network increase, ZXTM is well placed to provide a centralised point of control to which intelligence, security and flexibility can be added to application infrastructures.

Damian Reeves continues, “Zeus has a proven record of creating innovative software solutions and we are proud to join the Blade.org community to remain at the forefront of advancing next-generation technologies. Through collaboration with other industry leading technology players, we expect to be able to help our customers to accelerate adoption of blade computing to realise significant cost and management efficiencies.”
