IT Career Week 2002 Brings Jobs to IT Pros

Added: (Thu May 09 2002)

Pressbox (Press Release) - SmartCertify Direct, a SmartForce Company has teamed up with leading Information Technology (IT) magazines and web sites to host IT Career Week 2002, an annual on-line event devoted to providing IT professionals with vital career, certification and training information. IT Career Week 2002 runs June 17 - 24, and will be held entirely on-line at www.ITCareerWeek.com. IT professionals can pre-register for the event beginning 17 May.

Along with SmartCertify, the free event is sponsored for the second consecutive year by MediaTec's Certification Magazine and IT Contractor Magazine; Processor Magazine and GoCertify.com, an on-line resource for certification information. New sponsors include ITtrainingstore.com, the largest source of downloadable IT training courses available on the Internet; LinuxUser; ITjobplanet.com; the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals; ITtrainingmag.com; Talent Point and emedia.

The weeklong event will focus on IT certification and training, elements that sponsors say are necessary for a successful IT career.

"In today's economy IT professionals can't afford to coast on their existing skills and credentials. The right training and certification can boost income or open doors to new career opportunities," said Anne Martinez, president of Anventure/GoCertify.com, sponsors of the event since 2001.

"By sponsoring IT Career Week again, GoCertify is proud to support IT professionals in their efforts to excel."

During the event, IT professionals can apply for open IT positions, send CVs to hiring companies, subscribe to industry publications and receive news and technical information on the latest trends in the industry. A major feature of the event will be the chance for IT professionals to try certification training courses for free, including courses for Microsoft, A+, Linux, CIW and Cisco software.

"With the vast number of certifications available today, quite often it's difficult for IT professionals to decide on a certification path. IT Career Week will allow professionals to try as many courses as necessary - for free - until they decide on a certification consistent with their interests and skill level," said Jamie Sene, vice president of marketing at SmartCertify.

Last year, about 12,000 IT professionals registered for the event. Due to current economic conditions and a competitive job market, sponsors expect an even greater interest this year.
