Argentina is latest country for Hyatt International’s continuing implementation of Scala Hospitality around the world
London, 8 May 2001: Scala Business Solutions said today that the new Park Hyatt Mendoza & Regency Casino in Argentina has started its Scala Hospitality installation, based on Scala 5.1L, the localised version of Scala’s standard ERP software for Spanish-speaking Latin America. The order also includes an additional installation for Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo, Brazil. Softtek, Scala’s implementation and support partner – the largest software services provider in Latin America – will implement the systems locally.
Hyatt International Corporation signed a corporate agreement with Scala last year and currently have 15 installations worldwide. Earlier this year Hyatt Regency Warsaw, Poland, implemented Scala (see press release 26 February) and another project in Australia is under way. Scala’s Hospitality division is one of the world’s foremost providers of enterprise-wide financial solutions specifically for the hospitality industry.
“Scala and Softtek provide us with a neat and tidy multi-lingual solution,” said Keith Glide, Director of Hotel Systems for Hyatt
International. “Conducting business in Latin American countries brings several challenges involving, for example, complex tax handling and currency revaluations. It is therefore imperative that we work with suppliers who have the right local business skills and offer local language support and consulting services. Scala and Softtek have proven to us that their software and services meet our needs.”
Park Hyatt Mendoza is also planning to merge its business processes with its daughter company, the casino business, to provide dual reporting capabilities, reducing administration time and simplifying procedures. Park Hyatt Mendoza & Regency Casino will open mid-June this year. Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo hotel will open mid-2002 and will use the Scala Hospitality suite to set up its financial processes in the pre-opening period.
According to Ian Hocking, Vice President Operations of Scala’s Hospitality division, extended business contracts with global companies such as Hyatt International represent a clear vote of confidence in Scala, its people and its products. “Scala’s strategy is to form business alliances with leading service organisations to deliver world-class software and services. A global company expanding into the dynamic Latin American markets demands high-quality software coupled with consistent implementation and support services across the whole region,” he said. “Softtek has proven to us that their experience and knowledge of local business requirements, together with strong development capabilities, give our global clients the advantages they need to stay competitive and, in turn, create added value for their customers.”
According to Hocking, Scala delivers the right mix of products and services to meet its clients’ changing needs in a rapidly-changing business world, whether those clients operate globally or locally. “Our products are cost effective and can be deployed globally to give our clients the standardisation they need for making global business simple.”
