Fox Electronics’ 2.5-Volt HCMOS XpressO™ Oscillators Dramatically Reduce Noise Levels
Added: (Mon May 05 2008)
Fort Myers, Fla. May 5, 2008 – Fox Electronics, America’s leading supplier of frequency control solutions, now offers its HCMOS XpressO™ oscillators with 2.5-volt operation. Featuring a third order Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) that offers significantly reduced noise levels, the new oscillators are comparable to traditional bulk quartz and surface acoustic wave (SAW) oscillators at a lower cost.
The noise-reducing DSM technology, combined with the series’ low noise architecture, enables the oscillators to offer significantly lower levels of jitter and phase noise, making them ideal for applications including SONET, Ethernet, storage area network, broadband access, microprocessors/DSP/FPGA, industrial controllers, test and measurement equipment, fiber channel, wireless such as Bluetooth and WiMax and portable products that require low power usage.
The new oscillators operate at the same voltage as the silicon chips to which they are providing timing, resulting in less current and heat generation. In addition, the HCMOS versions highlight application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for accurate performance, decreased cost and increased flexibility.
The HCMOS XpressO oscillators feature a frequency range of 0.750 MHz to 180.000 MHz, stabilities as tight as ±20 ppm and a frequency resolution to six decimal places. The oscillators offer operating temperatures of –20°C to +70°C (-4°F to +158°F) or –40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F).
The RoHS-compliant series has a gold over nickel termination finish and features industry-standard packaging of 5.0 mm x 3.2 mm and 7.0 mm x 5.0 mm including footprint and pin-out.
The new XpressO family also offers Fox’s patented serial identification system with comprehensive traceability to ensure quality control by tracing any product back to its original manufacturing lot. Designed to benefit engineers and purchasing personnel alike, these high-quality, low-cost oscillators offer short lead times and are guaranteed to be shipped within 24 hours for samples and within 10 days maximum for production quantities.
Pricing for XpressO HCMOS versions will vary depending on the output, frequency and stability needed. A 2.5-volt, ±50 ppm, HCMOS, 27 MHz oscillator costs $0.46 each in quantities of 50,000.
