Pressbox (Press Release) -
When Apple announced the release of the iPad, photography lovers around the globe couldn’t wait to get their hands on one – and the device didn’t disappoint. With a large, high-resolution screen, photos took on a whole new life and looked beautiful; surely this would mean a plethora of photo books appearing to take advantage of this new medium? Unfortunately not – they just didn’t come.
So LearningTheLight.com, a photography website, decided to approach the photographic community to create one themselves.
Using the photo-sharing website Flickr.com to find photographers willing to help, a team of 28 was soon found, with contributors coming from all around the world - including the UK, Brazil, Croatia, USA, and Italy. With a ‘self-portrait’ theme, their photo book was then created and optimized for the iPad, produced and edited by LearningTheLight.com.
Alan Law, who compiled the photo book, really enjoyed the process of working with a large team of photographers. “Everyone we contacted were thrilled to be part of the photo book,” says Alan, “It’s great to be releasing something that can be enjoyed by people all over the globe, and to be giving these fantastically talented photographers a new way to get their work out there, and appreciated”.
The iPad photo book is available to download for free at www.learningthelight.com. Although optimized for the iPad, it can also be viewed on any iPhone or iPod Touch (running iOS 4), PC and Mac.
