Chicago student launches SMS blogging service

Chicago – University of Illinois at Chicago engineering student Nemanja Stefanovic recently unveiled a new service for backpackers and hipsters alike. His site: letmeparty.com, lets users post to their blogs (web logs) via SMS text messaging.
The free service allows users to register their blogs to the site along with their mobile phone number. They can add as many blogs as they want and currently Livejournal, Blogger, Wordpress, and Xanga are supported. Then when they send a blog post to the phone number on the site, it recognizes the user from their own phone number and posts the SMS to all of the blogs they registered.
“I wanted to fuse text messaging and blogging, both of which have been really taking off for a while” he says. “I figure this could be useful for backpackers and other travelers whose friends and families would want to hear about how they are doing. Using letmeparty.com, they can blog without having to worry about stopping at an internet cafe or using MMS messages which are currently much more expensive than regular SMS.”
The service, which can be used from anywhere in the world through any provider also has the potential to allow people in remote areas who many may not have access to internet, but often carry mobile phones, to voice their ideas and thoughts to the World Wide Web.
