BAA Press Team flying high with Solcara

Added: (Fri Jul 08 2005)

Solcara, the highly innovative UK-based information management software and solutions company today announces it has secured a major contract from BAA plc. Solcara will supply a knowledge capture and sharing application within BAA’s corporate communications and public affairs department.

BAA plc owns and operates seven UK airports, including the world's busiest international airport, Heathrow and has management contracts or stakes at eleven airports outside the UK. Over 200 million passengers pass through BAA’s UK airports each year.

During an average day BAA’s media relations officers receive hundreds of media enquiries on topics ranging from security issues, to enquiries about airport operations, responsible development and investment.

BAA has chosen Solcara to assist in delivering efficiency improvements within the media relations function. Located at each of the 7 different UK airport sites, including Gatwick Stansted and Heathrow, BAA’s media relations officers need access to an accurate archive of information for recall during major events, as well as to a central repository of knowledge needed to manage routine media enquiries.

The Solcara solution, based on their PressBureau product, will ensure that information provided by BAA’s media relations officers is accurate, timely and consistent. It will act as the central resource for the capture of all press releases, briefings, FAQs and lines to take, and enable the accurate recall of ‘who said what to whom’.

Charlie O’Rourke, Director at Solcara, commented, “The flow of information between their airports and stakeholders is so great, that BAA needed a system which coordinates and delivers the current company position and related pertinent information quickly and accurately to those responsible for maintaining the reputation of this major UK plc. We are delighted that an organisation with a highly recognisable, global brand has chosen our software and experience to manage information within their media relations function.”
