Pressbox (Press Release) - Kathy Bush, LogicMighty sales manager LogicMighty was guest speaker at the National Housing Federation South Communications Group quarterly meeting on 24 September. Tina Partridge, marketing manager for Spectrum Housing Group and LogicMighty customer, invited Kathy to discuss the benefits of her PhotoLibrary software. Representatives from housing associations across Cornwall, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire attended the meeting hosted by Westward Housing Group in Torquay. Common interests, good practice and initiatives in the housing sector are discussed. Providing a PhotoLibrary for staff and journalists is an important communications role and Photography featured on the agenda.

“It was good to meet many of the housing communications managers that I have spoken to on the telephone. We are starting to build up our housing association customer base with Spectrum Housing and Gentoo Group. 15 housing associations have our PhotoLibrary software on trial to demonstrate the benefits before bidding for funds,” said Kathy Bush.

Finding and controlling photographs is a common problem for most communications departments. However, it is easily solved using a web-based software package like PhotoLibrary. Kathy explained, “our software makes finding photography easy for publications, presentations, promotions, intranets and websites. Once categories and keywords are set up and photos uploaded with metadata, users are given a password and specific access rights to share the photolibrary. Housing Associations need a wide choice of photos for their tenant publications such as handbooks, newsletters, annual reports and leaflets. Staff publications include branding guidelines, style guides and “How To Do” books. Browsing the PhotoLibrary via the company intranet or internet eliminates the laborious task of searching through CDs and folders for photos.”

Many housing communications managers run the department on their own or with one assistant. PhotoLibrary software saves time because the structure is simple to set up and maintain; copyright and data protection information is easy to control. Using the PhotoLibrary is intuitive and encourages staff to search for photos themselves.

All area offices in Spectrum Housing have shared the LogicMighty hosted PhotoLibrary since March 2006. Tina Partridge, marketing manager said "the on-line photo library facility has helped us enormously in terms of categorising and keywording all of our photographs with relevant details making it so much easier to find images at the touch of a button. We are now able to react so much more quickly to requests from staff and our external customers."
