Women’s Title Fight Added To Cagewarriors Quest Volume 3 Card On September 17th

Pressbox (Press Release) -
The Cagewarriors Fighting Championships are excited to announce a Title fight at their Cagewarriors Quest show on September 17th. As the CWFC Women’s champion Rosi Sexton makes her long awaited return to the fight game when she takes on the Welsh sensation Sabrina Cohen in the Octagon Centre, Sheffield.
Rosi Sexton is the Cagewarriors under 60kg Women’s champion and was a recognisable and respected figure in the UK MMA scene before her break from the sport last year. Sexton has previously been featured in several mainstream news articles, a BBC 1 documentary and also on the front cover of a Martial Arts Illustrated supplement (to name just a few.) Sexton is also famous for her academic background and has a PhD in Mathematics from Manchester University.
Sexton trains at SBG Manchester under Karl Tanswell and is currently unbeaten in MMA competition with a record of 4-0-0. As well as being the Cagewarriors Champion she is also a highly talented submission grappler who has won a variety of competitions. However Sexton has not fought under MMA rules since February 2004 and has also taken time out to start a family. Will this affect Sexton on her return or will she continue to dominate the women’s scene now that Cagewarriors officials persuaded her to make her comeback and defend her title in just 2 weeks time.
Challenging Sexton is Sabrina Cohen, who is making her first appearance at a Cagewarriors event. Cohen has a professional MMA record of 1-1-0 and trains out of the Cardiff MMA gym in Wales. Cohen is a fire-fighter by day and has also featured in numerous mainstream news articles due to her day job and her Martial Arts exploits. Earlier on this year Cohen hit the headlines due to her fund raising attempt for a cancer charity, in which she took part in a five-hour Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) challenge, where she fought for 101 rounds against men as a tribute to her father who died of cancer when she was young. Cohen and her team have also been profiled in the UK MMA magazine “Fighters Only” which also helped to raise her profile.
Although Cohen suffered a slight setback on her debut (when she lost on points against Cherie Buck at Grapple and Strike Wales) Cohen bounced back in style with a quick submission victory against Julia Ingram at the House of Pain 3 show in Swansea. Since then Cohen has been training hard at her Cardiff base and recently signed a management deal with Warrior Promotions who will now look after her fighting interests and helped make this fight with Rosi Sexton happen.
Cagewarriors officials would like to thank both fighters for agreeing to face each other for the under 60kg title on short notice and as an added incentive this fight will also be filmed as part of a documentary which will be shown on Tyne Tees Television in the UK later on this year. We hope this fight and documentary will help portray MMA in a positive light and give the sport more positive mainstream attention.
Also on the card is the previously announced main event between the Cagewarriors, KOTC UK and UK Storm veteran Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (8-3-0) and the Cage Rage, Ultimate Combat veteran Sami “The Hun” Berik (4-5-0). Both men have waged a war of words over the last few months and Berik will be trying to avenge a defeat he suffered at the hands of Hardy’s team mate Paul Daley at FX 3 earlier on this year.
Betting lines for both these fights can be found at http://www.betonfighting.com/?affid=ufc7
The rest of the card which features an array of exciting semi-pro MMA and Cage Kickboxing bouts will be released soon on the Cagewarriors web site. If you wish to participate in this exciting semi-pro series contact Rob Butler at rob@bprint.org and watch out for CW Quest Volume 4 in December and an expanded Quest schedule for 2006.
