Ultimate Frisbee Spreads Disease
Added: (Fri Sep 30 2005)
Ultimate frisbee is a fast free-flowing game played
world-wide which combines elements of netball, soccer,
grid-iron and touch footy. The basic aim is for the
team with the frisbee to pass the disc up the field to
others on their team and catch it in the endzone.
This is a game of speed, strategy, and rough, often
dirty play. And there in lies the problem. While the
game continues to spread through North America and
Europe, so does a small bacterium known as fingsum
delitouis. Because warts spread through the skin,
when attached to the human body this is the bacteria
which causes Beckon warts. And it just so happens
that the frisbee fields are perfect growing
environments for these invisible life-forms.
Some teams in South Wales, the Netherlands, and the
Rocky Mountain area of the United States have been
decimated by Beckon warts. In fact, whole teams have
been showing up to play looking like 3rd grade chicken
pox victims.
While the warts are painless they can be embarrassing.
"My speed and game play hasn't diminished, but it's
harder to get dates now", says Alvin Hortig of Golden
Colorado.
Treatments for the Ultimate Frisbee players vary.
Some claim mayonnaise applied to the warts deprive
them of oxygen and kill them in a matter of weeks.
Others have found scraping with broken pottery to
provide limited benefit.
