Yes, Better Fly Fishing have done it again. Just one year ago there was only one book available on the Better Fly Fishing website, but William Carter, the author of all the books is constantly adding more and more to this exiting and comprehensive fly fishing package.
There are now a total of eight books, and all for the price of one. ‘Flyfishing Unleashed’ is the principal book and deals with just about everything the fly fishing novice needs to learn. There are topics on: Choosing the right equipment, casting techniques, fishing different types of water, and so on. There are also some lesser known fly fishing techniques in the book which will help beginners to start catching big fish straight away.
The second book in the package is ‘Fly Fishing Knots Made Easy’ and includes some excellent illustrations with step by step instructions for tying them securely. The way this book is laid out and the quality of the illustrations make this book a must for the fly fishing beginner
This is followed by ‘Nymphing from Novice to Expert’ which goes into great depth about fly fishing beneath the waters surface by imitating nymphs. This is a technique that beginners can find very difficult to master, but after reading this book, another technique in the world of fly fishing is well and truly opened up to them.
Next there are a set of three books dealing with fly fishing for specific kinds of fish.
‘Better Flyfishing for Bass’ is the first in this trilogy and goes into the techniques and strategies needed to catch both Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass.
This is followed by ‘Better Flyfishing for Panfish.’ Panfish are second only to Bass in fly fishing popularity and this book shows how to learn and develop the skills needed to catch fish such as Crappie, Perch, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed and many others.
The last book of the three is ‘Better Flyfishing for Trout.’ And as it’s name suggests it covers the techniques needed to catch Trout. But, different types of trout require different skills to catch them. This book goes into detail about catching Lake, Brook, Cutthroat and Rainbow trout, and of course, Steelhead.
The next book in this exhaustive package can help turn a bad day’s fishing into a good one.
‘Emergency Fly Fishing Tactics when Nothing Else Works’ is a very handy book that’s full of tips and strategies to help a struggling angler catch fish when they just won’t seem to bite.
The last and latest book to be added will save time and money on fly fishing reel repairs. ‘Fly Fishing Reel Repair and Maintenance’ goes through the steps required to strip and repair fly fishing reels with illustrations and links to hundreds of reel schematics. It also shows how to keep a fly fishing reel in top working order.
