Facts about breast cancer
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women. One out of ten women will develop breast cancer in the United Kingdom and the leading overall cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55.

Breast cancer is a malignant tumour that has developed from cells of the breast. Each breast has 15 to 20 sections called lobes, which have many smaller sections called lobules. The lobes and lobules are connected by thin tubes called ducts. The most common type of breast cancer is ductal cancer. It is found in the cells of the ducts. Cancer that begins in the lobes or lobules is called lobular cancer. Lobular cancer is more often found in both breasts than other types of breast cancer. Hereditary breast cancer makes up approximately 5% to 10% of all breast cancer cases.

No one knows what causes breast cancer or how to prevent it. With the help of breast self-examinations and mammograms, some cases can be detected early and be treated. Though frequent and regular physical exercise has shown to decrease breast cancer risk.

Patricia Leathem, Director of Against Breast Cancer said, “We are thrilled that Sweatband has demonstrated its support for our cause. Together, we can reach out to a wider audience of active female sports enthusiasts to help promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds in an entertaining atmosphere.”
