Should Formula 1 TV Coverage Return To The BBC?

Added: (Sun Mar 16 2008)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Following another abysmal Grand Prix coverage this weekend by ITV, Formula One fans are again calling for future Grand Prix’s to be covered by the BBC!

It seems that there are more and more TV ad breaks during a Grand Prix on ITV and some run for several minutes. What ITV chiefs fail to understand is that Formula 1 is a very complex sport and they are treating it like most people that don’t understand the sport and consider it to be just a load of cars going round and round in circles.

ITV don’t seem to take into consideration that if a fan is prepared to watch a Grand Prix for up to 2 hours its because they are interested in every lap and not just the spin offs’, crashes and pit stops. Also, when the race has finished it is important for the fans to have the entire event covered including the after race interviews and press conferences. Can you imagine several ad breaks through a football match and no coverage or interviews following the event!!

“In our opinion and from the various comments of F1 fans that visit our site, ITV does not deserve to have the rights to show Formula One.” Says James Fox of BBCF1.COM.

“We have set up an online Forum especially for fans of Formula One to leave their comments regarding the TV coverage of F1 and hopefully if we can get enough support in favour of the BBC to regain its coverage, we can start putting pressure on Mr Ecclestone.” Fox explains. “It is about time that fans of Formula 1 were given the same respect as Football fans and other sports fans and ad breaks should only be taken if necessary when the safety car is deployed or the race is stopped for an accident etc. If there are no breaks in the racing then there should be no ad breaks!” Fox Concludes.

If you are a Formula One fan and would like to have your say, you can leave your comments at WWW.BBCF1.COM. When there are enough comments left they will be forwarded to the only person that can make a difference. Mr Bernie Ecclestone.

WWW.BBCF1.COM is a site dedicated to fans of Formula One. It provides a site where fans can buy and sell their F1 memorabilia and collectables and have their say regarding the best sport in the world, Formula One.
