Pressbox (Press Release) - Press Release

Multi-millionaire property developer, racing yard owner and author Rob Lloyd embarked on a life changing experience by swapping his luxurious Cheshire home to work with the youth projects in Belfast's notorious Shankill Road area on Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire.

Armed with nothing but a new wardrobe of “hoodies & old jeans” and a mere £77 to live on for nine days, Rob began on an adventure that he admitted “changed my life: just not necessarily in the way I imagined.”

The father of three boarded a plane at John Lennon Airport totally unaware of its destination, but hoping that he would find worthy recipients for the thousands he wanted to give away.

Rob age 45yrs, who made his first million by the time he was 26 years old, said nothing could have prepared him for the experience, during which he lived in a run down terraced house in one of the toughest areas in the country .

He confessed that "The whole experience was incredible. It was a real eye-opener and a good learning experience for me. There are people there who are really trying to make a difference to people's lives, it made me realize that I am actually a very selfish person, I’m a workaholic who has never known how to slow down”.

Secret Millionaire featuring Rob Lloyd, Chief Executive of Eatonfield Group and Owner of Rob Lloyd Racing will appear on Channel 4 on Sunday 19th April, 9pm

Notes to Editors:

Rob Lloyd’s autobiography Raising The Bar, a rags to riches story, twice over – as featured on Channel Four’s Secret Millionaire.
Rob Lloyd made his original fortune at the age of 26, after setting up his first business, the LPI Group, in 1989. However, in three short years his business collapsed, in the wake of the property crash of the early 90s, and Rob lost everything. In 1994 he was living in a caravan with his first wife and their three small children, where they remained for two years.
But he clawed his way back up again, setting up Eatonfield Group in 1998 and eventually floating the company on AIM in 2006. Eatonfield raised £10m to grow the business and £5m for Rob personally.
