Provisional Imola Pole for Corser

Pressbox (Press Release) - Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider, Troy Corser, was on provisional Imola pole last Sunday.

October 11, 2005 - Troy Corser, Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider, ended up on provisional pole for the 2nd day of October World Superbike 11th round after the first day of qualifying at Imola, Italy.

At the start of the race, the track was humid but the 34 riders raced without any hesitation. As the race went on, the track then began to dry out. The pace became hotted up but Corser stayed on the lead with his GSX-R1000 Suzuki.

Friday that week the Superbike Qualifying are as follows: 1 Troy Corser (Aus-Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra) 1:49161, 2 Vermeulen (Aus-Honda) 1:49.280, 3 Lanzi (I-Ducati) 1:50.007, 4 Martin (Aus-Petronas) 1:50.028, 5 Chili (I-Honda) 1:50.029, 6 Yukio Kagayama (J-Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra) 1:50.126, 7 Pitt (Aus-Yamaha) 1:50.142, 8 Toseland (GB-Ducati) 1:50.487, 9 Muggeridge (Aus-Honda) 1:50.537, 10 Laconi (F-Ducati).

According to Corser, "In our recent test I found a really good feeling with my bike again and we've carried that over to here. I think the same set-up works pretty well here, so we were in the ballpark straight away. We tried some different gearings today and also spent quite a bit of time playing around with different tyres to try and find the best ones for the race. But this afternoon, the temperature was quite a bit hotter and the track felt less grippy so we're are not sure which tyres to go for at the moment. However, I feel pretty relaxed and ready for the races."
