BRONX WEEK �07 STRONG-ARMS: THE COMPETITION
�BronxBoro� Arm Wrestling Championships is featured event!
Bronx, NY. May 20, 2007 - Spectators are invited to watch or compete for Bronx Week�s strongest arm, as Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr. and The Bronx Tourism Council present the White Castle 24th Annual 'BronxBoro� Golden Arm Wrestling Championships for beginners and amateurs. The event will be staged at The Bronx Week Food & Arts Festival on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Mosholu Parkway South between Van Cortlandt Ave. East & Bainbridge Ave. Bronx, NY. 10451. Registration and weigh-in begins at 10:00 a.m. and start time is 12:30 p.m. Free entry and admission will be provided for everyone in commemoration of Bronx Week �07 and the New York Arm Wrestling Association�s 30th year anniversary sponsored by White Castle.
There are twelve weight classes for men and women, including two Master Classes for men 40+ and 50+ years old. Awards will be given for first, second and third place and the �Strongest Arm in the Bronx� male and female MVP will be crowned. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will qualify for the Empire State Golden Arm Tournament of Champions at The Port Authority Bus Terminal in November.
Gene Camp, founder and president of the New York Arm Wrestling Association, said, �The Bronx Arm Wrestling Championships always brings out a captive cheering audience and is a free fun-filled day for everyone. We are excited that we could participate in this year�s Bronx Week �07 festivities for the traditional crowning of the White Castle Bronx Arm Wrestling Champions.� The White Castle New York 'Golden Arm' Series consist of seven preliminary Championships, culminating into the finals. Events are held in each of the five NYC Boroughs, Long Island, and Upstate, NY.
The NYAWA is a New York State registered not-for-profit organization. During its long history it has worked closely with the City of New York Dept. of Parks and Recreation, as well as with many sponsors, charities, civic and community organizations to present arm wrestling events for fans of all ages.
