Kangaroo Poo, the surf lifestyle clothing brand is celebrating a double success this month for it’s windsurf team.
Amy Carter was crowned the fastest lady at the International Weymouth Speed Week with a time of 24.46 knots. (28mph)
The Weymouth Speed Week, held at the all new Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, is the oldest and longest running sailing speed event on the planet, having started in 1972. The event is centered on an accurately measured 500 metre course located in Portland Harbor and attracts the fastest speed sailors from around the world.
Amy overcame fierce competition from an international field to win the youth’s category giving her the perfect boost to take with her to her final competition of the year at the White Air Festival on the Isle of White and the end of October.
Darren Mitchell showed why he is the one to watch by improving on his 3rd place at the event last year by winning the Tiree Wave Classic Triple Crown in Scotland.
The Tiree Wave Classic is one of the legendary events on the UK’s windsurfing calendar. In the week long event extreme adrenaline fuelled action is guaranteed as some of the world's best sailors come together to brave the full Atlantic furies of wind and waves. The Triple Crown consists of freestyle, wave jumping and supercross disciplines all designed to test the competitor to their limits.
Commenting on their success, Managing Director Gary Wells said “We are very pleased to be supporting the sport of windsurfing and are proud to be sponsoring two of the UK’s hottest young talent. Amy and Darren have shown again their total commitment to the sport and what a fantastic talent they have. “
