Julian Dicks Signs For West Ham!

West Ham United fans are known for their dedication, and the support shown for under-fire manager Alan Pardew this week is typical behaviour of the East London supporters. But fans attending an event at the West Ham United Club Store, Lakeside on Thursday took their support to the next level as hundreds braved the queues for a chance to meet West Ham United hero, Julian Dicks, as he signed copies of a new DVD profiling his life in the game.
Dedicated fans waited almost three hours for a chance to meet the former Left Back, and one life-long supporter took his fanaticism to the next level by asking Dicks to not only sign a copy of the recently launched ‘Julian Dicks – Terminator’, but also rolled up his trouser leg for the star to apply his autograph! Surprised and amused, Dicks was told by the Hammers fan that he would be going straight to the tattooist to have the signature inscribed as a permanent homage to the man considered to be one of the most committed players ever to wear the claret and blue shirt.
Providing a timely reminder of the fact that dedication shown on the pitch is rewarded by dedication from those who regularly observe off the pitch, Dicks was not at all fazed by the somewhat unusual request and instead appeared flattered that after 7 years out of the game, fans still hold him in such high regard.
Obviously earning a special place in the hearts of many, the new Julian Dicks DVD profiles his most memorable moments in a Hammers’ shirt; a number of which were previously unseen for nearly twenty years, and shows off some of the talents that have so endeared him to the Upton Park faithful.
Interviewed at his new home in Spain, fans also catch a glimpse of Dicks’ golf talents and answer many of the questions raised over his controversial fifteen year career. Already flying off the shelves, this DVD will undoubtedly prove the highlight of any West Ham fans’ collection and will leave many wishing that the ‘hard man of football’ hadn’t been forced to hang up his boots at such an early age.
