Inaugural Vince Neils Off the Strip Poker Tournament a Success!
Added: (Fri Nov 25 2005)
Vince Neils Off the Strip Texas Hold Em Tournament held inside the Joint at Peter Mortons Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on November 11th was a smashing success. The tournament and charity auction raised over $150,000.00 for the Skylar Neil and T. J. Martell foundations.
I cant believe how much money we were able to raise for the foundations and how much fun it was, stated Vince Neil of the band Mötley Crüe. This shattered our goals for what we had hoped to raise. We could not have done it without the tremendous help from my good friends at the Hard Rock.
Neil was referring in part to the generous contribution made by second place finisher, Harry Morton, son of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino owner Peter Morton. Having only played poker seriously for less than a year, Morton outlasted 127 other players to duel it out in a heads up match with the eventual winner, seasoned pro Chad Layne.
This was a great event. Its the kind of fun time that we are known for at the Hard Rock, said Harry Morton. Vinces efforts for the Martell Foundation are outstanding and we are proud to be a part of them. I cant wait until next year.
Sponsors for the inaugural poker event included previous Skylar Neil Foundation supporters Howard Schlick and S&J, Inc., Red Bull and Peter Mortons Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, all of which have sponsored Neils annual golf tournaments. New comers to Neils efforts included Eagle Warranty, Counts Kustoms, and The Small Town Poker Tour.
Proceeds from the event will benefit T. J. Martell Foundation, a recording industry organization dedicated to raising funds for the innovative life saving research into the treatment of leukemia, cancer and AIDS.
Vinces golf tournaments are always a lot of fun and have raised over $1,000,000 for our foundation, declared John Larney, CFO for the T. J. Martell Foundation. We did not really know what to expect from a poker tournament, but this was great. The hospitality from the Hard Rock was outstanding and the event management services from THE DIVISION made this a huge success. We look forward to this becoming an annual event
