HOTEL RE-OPENS ROOMS IN VILLAGE AFTER MORE THAN 30 YEARS WHEN TARIFF WAS 5 GUINEAS

The Hussar Hotel in Garlinge will open its rooms to guests for the first time since the early 1970’s at the end of July. Host’s Renny and Elaine Dobbs have refurbished the 1st floor of this popular inn and can now offer 6 en-suite letting rooms.

The last time the pub was used as an hotel was back in 1972 when licensee’s at the time Dennis and Anne Hall were at the helm. Dennis, who retired from the Hussar in 1988 and still lives in Westbrook said : ‘We decided to close the hotel side of the business in the early 70’s as the effects of packaged holiday’s took there toll’. The room tariff then was 5 Guineas for a weeks B&B! The new rooms however have been tastefully transformed and fitted with all modern facilities.

Renny and Elaine, who have run the pub for 9 years said: ‘We are tired of turning people away seeking accommodation and decided to invest in the property recognising Margate’s efforts to upgrade and enhance it’s image as a tourist destination’.

The rooms have been finished to a high standard and are all full en-suite. Facilities include LCD flat screen tv’s, high speed internet access, tea and coffee making facilities and much more. The room tariff is also modern with prices starting at £50 per room per night including a full English breakfast and VAT.

The Hotel re-opens its rooms on Aug 1st 2005.
