FORMER CRICKET UMPIRE AND QUIZ COMPILER’S TEAM UP AND RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY
Added: (Thu Sep 27 2007)
Pressbox (Press Release) -
Former cricket umpire Dickie Bird MBE writes the foreword to ‘The Cricket Quiz Book’.
For every copy of the book sold £1 is donated from the compiler’s Alan Finch, Chris Cowlin, Adam Pearson and publishers Apex Publishing Ltd to ‘The Dickie Bird Foundation’. Dickie Bird said: “You may be of expert standard and able to answer all the questions. You may be a bar room bore who knows nothing about everything. You could even be the next Dickie Bird: someone who has a lifetime of cricketing knowledge-but still sometimes manages to forget the most famous players’ names.
“I hope you enjoy the book and remember, by purchasing this, you too are doing your bit to help financially disadvantaged children.”
The book will be published in May 2008 and contains 1,000 leg-breaking quiz questions. Your innings will require you to recall facts and figures relating to every possible aspect of the game of cricket from players to umpires and national to international matches, together with all kinds of trivia, so you could very easily find yourself in a real spin and may need to enlist the help of friends to bail you out before a sneaky Chinaman bowls you over, slips you up or reduces you to a pile of ashes.
Whether you find yourself top of the batting order or limping with a square leg, this book, with a fitting foreword by Dickie Bird, contains a wealth of knowledge about the sport that is guaranteed to enthral all cricket fans, and questions that will stimulate fond memories and friendly debates for many an entertaining hour.
The compiler’s spokesperson Jackie Bright said: “Chris Cowlin and Adam Pearson have raised a lot of money for charity in the past few years and are delighted that cricket legend Dickie Bird MBE has teamed up with them and are raising money for such a good cause.”
