Cruising for a Bruising! Crash of the Titans!
The roller derby scene, resurrected in the UK in 2006, is thriving, with 10 current leagues and new ones springing up every week like in Windsor, Manchester, Brighton and Essex.
This roller riot is described as a cross between x-treme games and burlesque. It's fast, furious and a bit sexy too! The girls are not afraid to get bruised and battered and is tauted that this sport is for is for girls who love bruises.
Formed in 2006 and after training hard for a year, the Birmingham Blitz Derby
Dames are in their a successful first inaugural season, the hometown roller derby queens, the 'Dames are set to pour salt on the wounds of an ancient grudge.

The Dames have been on a winning streak and have plan to take a win home again in Birmingham's name. It's the perfect sport for those who love full-contact skating but can't follow a puck.
The Dames are continuing to present live, all-women, flat-track roller derby. April 12th the Dames will will be jamming and blocking in Kings Heath in a sport of sneaky strategy, speed, and ruthless violence, roller derby makes curious fans into quick converts.
After all, who wants to cross a woman named "Violet Attack", "Helen Fury" or "Tear E Hatchet"?
Neophytes should check out the rules. And, yes, it is based on the roller derby you know from the kitsch 1970's. Except, now, nobody's faking.
