CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH, Sunday 17th February 2002-02-06
BRITANNIA FC vs Ex Pro SAINTS
Britannia FC, a football team built around the employees of Bournemouth-based Britannia Leatherbarrows Removals and Storage, have arranged a Charity Football Match against a team of ex Southampton players and their guests.
The match will be played at Bashley Football Club, which is located on Bashley Road in the village of Bashley, on the outskirts of New Milton in Hampshire.
The match will commence at 2pm on the 17th February. Ex West Ham and AFC Bournemouth manager, Harry Redknapp, will kick-off the game.
The Saints side is expected to include Mark Dennis, Mark Wright, Paul Walsh, Jimmy Case, Glenn Cockerell, Ian Jureyeff, Steve Baker, Andy Townsend and, hopefully, Matt Le Tissier. Ex Hampshire cricketers Aidy Aymes and Robin Smith will be playing as guests for the Saints team.
The referee will be disc-jockey Steve from WAVE 105 FM.
Admission charges will be £3 for adults, £2 for children.
Local businesses have been approached for sponsorship and donations.
ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO THE KIDNEY DIALASIS APPEAL, DORCHESTER COUNTY HOSPITAL.
After the game an auction of memorabilia will take place and all Premier League Clubs have been approached for the donation of suitable items. Manchester United have already donated signed shirts and balls.
