Genuine fans of participating teams are being allocated only 8% of the
tickets to attend World Cup games. We believe this is wrong and aim to pressure FIFA into changing the rules.
Thursday 30th May marks the launch of an international campaign web site that intends to gain support for a movement to change the way World Cup tickets are allocated in the future.
OurWorldCup.com enables football fans worldwide to show their support for lobbying FIFA to ensure host countries allocate most of their match tickets to genuine fans.
Instead of moaning about the unfairness of ticket allocations to their mates in the pub, fans can now sign an online petition, talk about the issues in the site forum and request to be kept updated of future developments.
The distance and expense involved in visiting Korea and Japan has made ticket allocation less of an issue in this particular tournament, but the familiar combination of empty seats and passive spectators in the stadiums will no doubt cause renewed media criticism of the current system.
What is clear is that the Germany 2006 tournament will see great demand for tickets from the fan base of the UK and Ireland sides that qualify, and to ensure they receive more than the current 8% we all need to act today.

The site has been developed by UK Internet agency Netstep, whose MD
Barry Mills comments,
"This isn't a commercial venture, it's just something that we feel very strongly about. We want to find out if the public feel the same, so we've set the web site up as a method of gauging the strength of feeling. We see this as the catalyst to force FIFA to review the existing rules and make the World’s greatest sporting tournament truly accessible to real fans before the next World Cup."
The site is currently being produced in German, French and Spanish.
