Pressbox (Press Release) -
Billiards Boutique of Weymouth has become an affiliate of the Universities Pool Council (UPC) this week in order to provide support to our countries youth.
The Universities Pool Council (UPC) promotes the sport of pool at Higher Education institutions in the United Kingdom and exists for the benefit of players at this level. They are recognised by both the English Pool Association (EPA) and the British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) as the governing body for university pool.
UPC Communications Director, David Graham says, I am delighted that Billiards Boutique has chosen to become affiliated with the UPC and am excited by the prospect of a working relationship between the two of us.
The UPC aim to provide each and every student in Britain with the opportunity to represent their university at pool across a range of disciplines. UPC stage team and individual tournaments around the country in both nine-ball and eight-ball pool, culminating with the prestigious BUSA-UPC Home Nations in which representative teams from the constituent countries compete against each other to be crowned Home Nations Champions
The UPC recognises that not all players will be of the standard to play in these events; therefore it also provides strong support at inter-mural level to cater for players of all abilities. The UPC also lends their organisational expertise to help clubs.
Billiards Boutique Proprietor, Pete Williams said, I am pleased to support the work of the UPC. Promoting the sport has always been my main priority and through this affiliation our combined experience will hopefully bring pool into the mainstream.
Oliver Dark, UPC Commercial Director and Vice Chair added: The UPC is delighted to welcome Billiards Boutique as our sponsors and see this relationship to be crucial to the development of student pool in the UK. Not only will this allow the UPC to develop our present services to student pool, Billiards Boutique will be able to promote their brand throughout the UKs student population, providing students with top of the range cue sport equipment and accessories. The partnership also opens up the potential for a range of exciting new initiatives that can only benefit student pool.
