BATTLE FOR THE ‘GOLDEN ARM’
IN FINAL SHOWDOWN Nov. 17, 2005
MANHATTAN, NY. 2005. Spectators are invited to watch the muscles ripple as The New York Arm Wrestling Association (NYAWA) presents the White Castle Empire State ’Golden Arm’ Tournament of Champions XXVIII, which is the culmination of the seven event New York ‘Golden Arm’ Series. This much anticipated FINAL is scheduled for Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Port Authority Bus Terminals North-Wing/Main Concourse at 625 8th Avenue (On 8th Avenue between 42nd and 41st Streets in Midtown, Manhattan) Over 100 men and women will weigh-in on the Main Stage between 10am and 12:30PM and start time is 1PM SHARP. The three top finishers in each weight class will advance to the final matches, beginning at about 3:00 PM; the award ceremony should take place at approx. 4 PM. Entry fee is $35 and admission is free. The proud sponsor is White Castle Hamburgers.
Special custom WHITE CASTLE arm wrestling awards will be given for first, second and third place in each of thirteen weight classes for men, including a 45+ years old masters class, 60+ senior class and three weight classes for women. A male and female MVP will be crowned and the ‘NYC Amateur Arm Wrestler of the year’ will be chosen.
The event will feature the first place winners of the 2005 New York ‘Golden Arm’ Series from the five NYC Boroughs, Long Island and Upstate New York. Last years 2004 Empire State Champions will also return to defend their titles. There are no residency requirements and anyone can compete regardless of age, sex, weight or experience. Spectators are invited to watch this exciting event for FREE.
"The 2005 White Castle Empire State Final Championship is New York City’s oldest and most sought-after amateur title event,” said Gene Camp, founder and president of the 28 year-old New York Arm Wrestling Association (NYAWA). Among the contestants will be last years Empire State ‘Golden Arm’ MVP, Shaun Freeman from Maspeth, Queens, who is unbeaten three years in a row. Also competing is the 2005 NYC Arm Wrestler of the year Richard Calero from The Bronx. Calero won eighteen events in the 175-pound weight class.
