Hawthorne NJ - Akadema resigns Winthrop University softball
Winthrop University coach Mark Cooke has resigned with Akadema Inc as official supplier to the program for fielding gloves and batting gloves. Winthrop softball is among the elite softball progams in the country. In the past two seasons Winthop has posted 86 total wins that include victories over North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, #18 Georgia, Purdue, #18 Oregon State, and Auburn.
Mark Cooke enters his 20th year as head coach of the Winthrop University softball team. In his career he’s compiled over 600 victories and has a career record of 625-559-3. Cooke is nearing 550 career wins at Winthrop as he has compiled a record of 541-512-3 in his 18 seasons. He has led the Lady Eagles to a total of four Big South Championships as he accomplished the feat in 1990 and 1991 as well. The team has finished runner-up four times (2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005).
