Pressbox (Press Release) -
Born from an idea to create a breakfast club, The Rotary Club of Worcester Vigornia is the newest club in the world of Rotary International, where likeminded professionals meet on a regular basis, then carry on with their daily commitments. Their aim being to support and fulfil the goals of Rotary International: to serve the community locally, nationally and globally.
In July this year (2009), Worcester's first woman Rotary President, Sue Fitzjohn, was proud to accept a presidential citation for 'outstanding efforts to reduce child mortality and make dreams real for the world's children' through fund raising efforts to improve sanitation and save lives in Tanga, Tanzania. They were delighted to have received this citation in their first year.
Sue Fitzjohn commented, "Vigornians are leading the way with a significant increase in membership (there's 32 of us now!) and we're always on the lookout for new members to join our lively club. So why join us? From a professional point of view you'll network with a cross-section of our community including legal, financial and marketing professionals, fundraisers, local business owners plus the principals of both the Worcester Sixth Form College and Worcester College of Technology, the former mayor of Worcester and the newly crowned Worcestershire Businesswoman of the Year 2009. From a personal perspective, the satisfaction of helping communities across the globe and locally is tangible! This, combined with an ever increasing circle of friends is a great way to spend your time!"
The Rotary Club of Worcester Vigornia meets 7.15 for 7.30am on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at the Art House Cafe in the CrownGate, Worcester. They reached their target membership level in the summer of 2008 and have been a fully operational Rotary since September 2008 when they received their Charter. Come along and meet them? A forward thinking club, they often have guest speakers who not only inspire but educate and they're constantly thinking of new ways to raise funds and increase awareness. Their door is always open, unless the weather's slightly inclement!
Come and join us and make a difference - help those less fortunate than you at home and abroad.
