Mobible, a leading provider of Christian content for wireless mobile devices, is six years old this week and celebrates another anniversary by adding the New International Version to the list of Bible translations available to visitors.
"The New International Version is considered by many people to be the definitive contemporary English translation of the Bible," says David De Silva of Mobible. "Having the NIV text available to Mobible visitors has been a dream of mine ever since the service was launched six years ago. I am thrilled to have reached an agreement with the International Bible Society that allows this to happen."
Visitors can access Mobible using a WAP-capable cellphone by visiting http://wap.mobible.org/ while visitors with HTML-capable devices, such as wireless PDAs and newer cellphones can go to http://pda.mobible.org/ for a richer experience.
Mobible was established in 2000 to provide Christian content to users of mobile devices such as cellphones and PDAs. The basic service provides access to the full text of the Holy Bible in 14 different languages as well as an inspirational 'Psalm For Today' (also available as an audio 'podcast') and Mobible In A Year, a service that leads the reader through the Bible in one year prompted by SMS text messages.
David De Silva currently works as a service designer for a UK cellular operator. His career in telecommunications spans more than ten years of working with Internet, mobile and fixed wireless service providers in the UK and abroad. David's vision is to see technology used in a practical way to serve the kingdom of God. David is a regular attendee at City Church, Bristol, part of the Newfrontiers family of churches. He lives in Bristol with his wife and three children.
