Go Ape Tribe raises £11,000 for the Gorilla Organization

Added: (Fri Oct 02 2009)

Staff and customers from Go Ape High Wire Forest Adventure, the UK’s leading forest adventure activity, have raised approximately £11,000 for the Gorilla Organization by taking part in the UK’s quirkiest annual charity fun run, the Great Gorilla Run, on Saturday 26 September.

Around 600 participants in total, 60 of which were the Go Ape Tribe, were running the streets of London in their gorilla suits. The Go Ape Tribe was gathered from across the country by all 22 Go Ape High Wire Forest Adventure courses. The run started at Minster Court and during their 7km route the gorillas took in sights such as Tower Bridge and Southbank. A giant 8ft Go Ape gorilla was at the start line with them showing support with his ape antics.

To date £150,000 has been raised by the Great Gorilla Run 2009 and all will be going to The Gorilla Organization which works internationally to save the world's last remaining gorillas in the wild by funding small grass-roots community projects, run by local African partners, that tackle the real threats to the gorillas' long term survival.
