My wife is working for Bank of Tokyo-Mitshubishi, Ho Chi Minh city branch, Vietnam. I love her so much and she loves me too. She loves not only her family but also her current career and working place. It thinks that everything will be perfect if there isn’t a deep misery. That is she has always come home too late for 9 years working for BTM. She always spend more 12 working hours per day and she often stays at home after 7.00 pm. Has she liked this? Certainly not. Do I need her over-time salary? No, never. The thing I need: she just comes home on time. My wife is very ambitious. She wants to study further; wants to look after her family; wants to bring up her children; wants to join social activities, etc. However, she is almost exhausted by over-time working hours day after day and she only has one thing to do that is to recover her health by sleeping – that’s all. I, sometimes, worry that if they are a modern life value or a standard Japanese principle.
Whenever Christmas comes, I always hope Santa Clause will only give her a gift: the right of 8 working hours per day. I, once again, hope this for this Christmas and it will actually become true. My wife and I will be happy to hand in hand with our children to enjoin a merry Christmas and New Year.
