BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE ‘BEACH-COMBER’
..but just where is paradise?

As holiday time approaches, everyone longs to fly off to a paradise beach, but where exactly is paradise these days?

Researchers for UK-based Good Holiday Guide travel magazine visited 1,000 beaches in over 120 countries to find the 12 best beaches in the world for 2004.

Their scoring system included points for sand and sea quality, visual appearance, and lack of development.

“In a recent poll, readers indicated that some of their biggest complaints when taking a beach-focused holiday were beaches that were packed out with people” said editor, Michelle Smith, “the beaches in our article may be considered to be just-this-minute-discovered beaches yet reasonably close to towns to provide good hotel accommodation”.

For beach-lovers, there’s something for everyone in the article, including a UK beach and a beach close to the Arctic Circle, as well as tropical beaches.

Good Holiday Guide Travel Journalist, Nic Havers, said “We have featured 12 beaches, one for every month of the year. These beaches can't be found in holiday brochures.”.

He added, ”We believe that our selection of paradise beaches will inspire people to make better choices in planning beach-orientated holidays. The magazine tells you just where to find your own Robinson Crusoe experience – without concrete or crowds. There will be some surprises on the list too – people will say ‘I never knew Spain had coastline like that’ or that it could be pleasant to go to a beach so close to the Arctic Circle”.

The 12 Best Beaches in the World are revealed in the Summer edition of the Good Holiday Guide. The Good Holiday Guide can be purchased from Time Publishing, First Floor, 105 High Street, Brentwood, Essex CM14 4RR, telephone 01277 221 221.
