KANSAS CITY, MO - (11/13/00) The 50,000th canine to be neutered and implanted with a solid silicone testicular implant was performed today at the Lund Animal Hospital in Boca Raton, Fl.
Dr Scorr Lund, DVM, performed the three minute procedure on an 11 month old Welch Corgi named Dingo - owned by Phylis Richardson of Deerfield Beach.
The manufacturer of the patented product branded NEUTICLES says the pet was also the first ever to be restored with a third implant model called NeuticlesUltra- boasting "marsh-mallow" softness.
"It's really a historic era not only for NEUTICLES but for animalkind," said inventor Gregg A. Miller, president of the Missouri based CTI Corporation.
"NEUTICLES are providing a solid solution to pet overpopulation in a country where over 17 million unwanted pets are destroyed annually - at a cost over over half a billion dollars to local governments," he said.
Supported by a network of over 8,000 veterinary clinics and hospitals worldwide- the decision with pet owners today is not necessarily whether to neuter with NEUTICLES-but to decide on just the right model for their pet which costs from $30 a pair.
The traditional form of altering used on family pets today was developed in 1802 and involves the permanent removal of the pets testicles.
"It was NEUTICLES or forget neutering Dingo," quipped Richardson who opted for the procedure to retain the pets identity. "They are part of his personality," she said. "We just want him to be the same afterwards."
"We recommend NEUTICLES as a perfectly safe option for the pet owner who is 'squeemish' over the idea of neutering," said Dr Lund. "I have performed multiple procedures through the years and clients are perfectly satisfied with the results."
NEUTICLES, which began commercial Worldwide establishment in 1995 has had no reported complications with implanted canines, felines, equine and bulls in all 50 states and 22 foreign countries.
The company predicts that neutering with NEUTICLES will someday be as common as the traditonal method is today.
"We've even 'NEUTICLED' two water buffalo, a prairie dog and a colony of rats," said Miller.
