Do people have an intuitive understanding of how thinking develops?

My colleague Zak Stein (who is doing his doctoral work at Harvard) and I are studying how people think about how thinking develops.
To study this question, we've developed a puzzle called the Sort Task Challenge. We think it's the most fun you can have while contributing to psychological research!
We originally designed the Card Sort task because we were curious if people had an intuitive understanding of how thinking develops over the course of the life span. People were so good at this task that we adapted it for use as a learning aid. We've used it for years to introduce college students and other groups to the idea of developmental assessment.
Now, we are using the Card Sort Task to conduct an on-line study that revisits our original question about developmental intuitions. Anyone who can understand and follow the directions can participate.
We'd like everyone to know about this project.
Here are a couple of comments from people who have taken the Challenge:
"I found this an interesting exploration of development, and I really liked cutting out the cards and placing them on my desk!" (C. Ecchine, Film Maker)
"This was way too much fun." (C. Rodriquez, Engineer)
